“Move my body in the ways that connect me to where I came from. Stretch my tissue, and make me flexible. Extend my range beyond the familiar edge. Activate the energy that relates to the infinite.”

  • Thai bodywork incorporates a combination of acupressure, assisted stretching, traction, compression and joint mobilization. This treatment is used as a form of physical therapy to aid in the increase of range of motion and physical strength.

  • Thai bodywork is different from many Western forms of massage in that there is no oil used, it takes place upon a mattress on the floor (instead of a table) and the client remains fully clothed throughout the session.

  • Thai bodywork can be varied to suit a wide range of physical needs, is suitable for clients of all ages and abilities and can compliment any level of exercise or ability.

  • Clinical trials have shown that Thai bodywork can prevent bone degeneration, decrease stress, treat back pain, and contribute to psychological well-being. Areas of ongoing research include the ability to improve circulation, flexibility, and muscle tone.

FAQs

How will i feel after our session? Can i go back to work?

Unlike many other forms of massage, you will feel relaxed, yet energized and ready to go about your day.

Should I eat before i come?

Your body will respond to treatment better if you do not have a full stomach. That being said, it might be hard to relax with a growling tummy, so do your best to be satisfied but not full. Carbonated sodas and fried foods typically cause more discomfort and I recommend avoiding these foods the entire day of treatment. It is also best to begin treatment with an empty bladder, although I do suggest drinking plenty of water after your session.

could this make me sore?

Occasionally, clients report muscle soreness the day after treatment. This is usually comparable to the type of soreness that we feel after a workout and is never a full body soreness. Depending on the depth of treatment, we might release tight muscles and open energy gates to those that haven’t been functioning properly and this ‘coming back online’ can feel like that muscle is being used in a new way. I recommend drinking plenty of water to hydrate the tissues as they work back into balance.

should i arrive early for my appointment?

Because I work from my home, I ask that you arrive at your scheduled time. I have allotted time for changing clothes and restroom use with our scheduled period of time.

what should i wear?

Please wear comfortable clothing that you can easily move in, like pajamas or something you would wear to the gym. Long pants are better than shorts. Please refrain from using lotions or oils as well as perfumes or colognes.

how often should i receive thai bodywork?

Frequency of treatment is specialized to each individual. Depending on goals and availability, we can work together to come up with the optimal treatment plan for you. For example, if you are rehabilitating after injury or surgery, it would be beneficial to come more frequently at first then taper treatments to be more of a maintenance schedule. I always say that any amount of Thai bodywork is beneficial!
