Meet Sarah:

Sarah Doll is a bodywork practitioner, educator, and artist. She began learning about the body and the human concept of it from the organic position of being highly physically capable yet quite sensitive in her own body. It was clear that she felt things differently than her peers. After experiencing pain and injury early in life while channeling her physical focus competitively, she opened the door to intentional and fluid movement via vinyasa yoga as a freshman in college. With an intellectual interest in the purpose of existence, Sarah studied Human Development exploring the social, cultural, biological and psychological aspects of human growth. She eventually acquired a degree in Early Childhood Education and spent 5 years teaching the Reggio Emilia Approach®; an educational philosophy and pedagogy based on the image of a child with strong potentialities for development and a subject with rights. This approach uses self-directed, experiential learning in relationship-driven environments. Although she primarily works with adults today, this teaching background continues to be a strong foundation for Sarah’s ability to nurture growth and development.

Through her aching body, she followed her curiosity which led her to several modalities including various forms of yoga, martial arts, and breathing practices which began to heal not only her body, but other areas of her life. She realized the art of mindfulness and intentional living as she became a parent in 2006. Because children give unbiased feedback, she was better able to see the clear occurrence of cause and effect as it relates to inner contentment. This was the beginning of her conscious connection between mind and body. As she continued the never ending quest to build a loving relationship with her body, she began teaching adults; sharing her education, skills and experience. Following several years of teaching group yoga classes, Sarah began working one on one with clients in 2012. She uses touch, metaphor, intuitive questioning and guided breathing in her sessions. She enjoys discussing real life and likes to facilitate her clients’ increasing awareness of the connections between body and mind in order for the inner spirit to move with less restriction, a possibility she believes is available to everyone with a well nourished body-mind. She continues her personal practice and study of the subtle energies that make up a body. Sarah currently lives what she calls a “handmade life” with her fiance and two sons on the edge of the Osage Hills in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Sarah’s Approach

Sarah’s current goal while working with clients is to encourage the authentic embodiment and expression of their wholeness within. She firmly believes that each individual human exists to share their own special excellence with the world. Often, these unique excellences are hidden beneath layers of social conditioning as a result of living in a consumerist driven culture. She aims to assist students in re-building connections to their own mind-bodies as well as their energy field and environmental lives. Through Sarah’s work, she hopes that her students and clients are better able to meet their daily lives with joy, compassion, patience and authenticity. She believes that learning is an active process and offers education in a way that encourages the construction of one’s own personal understanding.

OSage soul

Sarah chooses to represent her work with the words ‘Osage Soul’. These words offer a sense of place physically: OSAGE - as she lives and practices in Osage County, a land rich with indigenous wisdoms and folk lore, and SOUL - a sense of place from which she offers her work: the seat of intuitive knowing and belonging.

Another way to express these words is the call “ O, Sage Soul”. Since childhood, Sarah has been drawn to the wise ones: those who share wisdoms through experience and story, the hand-makers and creatives who were willing to extend their knowledge. Her lifelong hunger for the invisible truths that are often dismissed in modern culture has led her on her own path of becoming a Sage Soul apprentice herself. As she is currently and forever unfolding within the web of these beautiful wisdoms mythos and skills, she is hand-making a life. It is clear that her purpose is to offer her experience, understanding and ability in service of community. Sarah sees herself not as a source, but as a resource of knowledge for her clients and students.
